Fundamentally, architecture has to work. The most important thing from my perspective is making sure that whatever has been designed can actually be built within the rules of structure, services, and council regulations – that’s the hardest bit, and the rest all falls into place. Every project and sector is different, and I find something interesting in all projects I work on. I’m constantly learning something new. I also never underestimate the power of detailing. It’s the small details that finish a project off and create a memorable space – the small makes the big better.
