Architecture is not a broadcast mechanism. It’s about engagement with the audience and asking the user to participate in the experience, it’s actually a partnership. I have a preoccupation with how things comes together and an essential part of my design approach is driven by construction technologies and innovation. What may appear as a melting pot of competing interests, people and innovations, is often where we find the road to great architecture.
I have extensive international experience, ranging from small-scale cultural buildings, to an £800 million master plan in the City of London. I trained in New Zealand and the US, and have worked on a wide variety of projects in Hong Kong, China, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand
My design inspirations are usually found in unexpected places, they are personal and incidental, but with a common theme; They all engage the audience to become part of the creative experience. I like it when you are not merely an ‘observer’.
