To be a great architect you must first listen. This is what I truly believe, because the designs I work on are not for me, they’re for the investor, owner, resident, visitor and community. I like to collaborate, and a key part of this is to hear the clients' and stakeholders’ ideas and stories, to define what’s important to them. My role is to create quality architecture from this. I feel architecture and the environments we create should not only functionally fulfil their purpose, but weave in the wider narrative: unique features of the site, community, diversity. The architecture we create should enhance the lives of the occupants, and future occupants.
I have worked across a variety of project scales, from high-end single dwellings to large-scale residential developments. My approach when working on projects is to allow all voices to be heard. This method is effective in granting all team members agency within the project.
